Change to Secure Flights - Overflights

Secure Flight’ is the system run by the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) which checks passengers on all flights to, from and within the US against US watchlists. BA completed its initial cutover to using Secure Flight for watchlist matching on all its flights to and from the US in August 2010.
Overflights:

The TSA have now mandated the Secure Flight program to include all flights which fly over the continental US or up to 12 miles off the US coast to get to their destination outside the US.

For BA this applies to the following 4 routes for tickets issued for flights departing on or after 17 Apr 2012:

LHR - YUL - LHR
LHR - YYZ - LHR
LHR - MEX - LHR
LGW - CUN - LGW

Overflights will be managed and handled in BA systems exactly as for flights to/from the US. The only significant system change is the requirement to send and receive a different PAXLIST indicator for overflights as for flights to/from the US. This will be enabled through changes to functionality in Amadeus RES and cDCS – it will require no user input.

Other airlines flying over the continental US will also mandate Secure Flight Data throughout 2012.

Collection of Secure Flight Passenger Data (SFPD)*

BA, its agents or any other carrier making a booking on BA for any covered sector will be required to collect minimum SFPD either at time of booking or before ticketing that sector and in any case before check-in can be completed.

*Min SFPD is:

First name
Last name
DOB
Gender

And, where supplied by the passenger, redress number

Passport Verification

All flights to and from Mexico and Canada will require passport verification.
